Born from
Volcanic Soil
& Pacific Rain
The Kingdom of Tonga lies in the South Pacific at 18°39′S · 173°59′W, east of Australia and north-east of New Zealand.
Map showing the Kingdom of Tonga located in the South Pacific Ocean at 18 degrees 39 minutes South, 173 degrees 59 minutes West. Surrounding countries visible on the map include Australia to the west, New Zealand to the south-west, Fiji to the north-west, Samoa to the north, and Vanuatu, New Caledonia, and the Solomon Islands.
Nestled between the South Pacific's warm trade winds and mineral-rich volcanic earth, the Kingdom of Tonga produces vanilla of extraordinary rarity. For over three generations, Tongan farmers have cultivated Vanilla planifolia using methods passed down through oral tradition — hand-pollinating each orchid flower during its single-day bloom.
The islands' unique terroir — a blend of sea salt air, consistent rainfall, and volcanic mineral content — imparts a flavour complexity unmatched anywhere on earth. Sei sources exclusively from certified Grade A producers who share our commitment to land stewardship and Tongan heritage.

From Orchid to Pod
Four Seasons of Care
Every Sei bean represents over 12 months of devoted attention by Tongan artisan farmers.

Orchid Cultivation
Vanilla planifolia orchid vines are trained along native hardwood poles across Tongan hillside gardens. Each vine takes 3–5 years before producing its first flowers.
Hand Pollination
During the single-day bloom, our farmers hand-pollinate each flower using a bamboo sliver — a skill requiring precision honed over decades of practice under Pacific skies.
9-Month Pod Growth
Over nine months, the pollinated flowers develop into long, plump green pods. Farmers monitor moisture, shade, and vine health daily throughout the growing season.
Sun Curing & Sweating
Harvested green pods undergo traditional Bourbon-method curing: blanching, daily sun-sweating under tapa cloth, and slow shade-drying over 3–6 months until deep brown and aromatic.
A Symphony of
Pacific Notes

Rich Bourbon Vanilla
Deep, creamy vanilla with warm caramel undertones — the hallmark of Pacific-grown beans fermented with patience.
Floral & Spice
Subtle jasmine and clove hints from Tonga's volcanic mineral soils, delivering complexity unmatched in commercial vanilla.
Smoky Sweetness
A long, lingering finish of smoked wood and honey — the signature of Sei's traditional slow-cure curing process.
